Young lawyers converge in Detroit for annual summit

The heavy rains on May 30 nearly put the brakes Detroit Grand Prix course, but inside the Greektown Casino Hotel, the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section’s eight annual Summit was going at top speed.

More than 100 attendees came to downtown Detroit for seminars on trial techniques, legal updates and networking know-hows, in addition to honoring one of their own.

Takura Nyamfukudza, a criminal law attorney at Alane & Chartier PLC in Lansing, received the section’s Regena Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. In his acceptance speech, the 12-year Army veteran expressed how gratitude, respect and commitment to every client goes a long way.

Preceding Nyamfukudza was Michigan Supreme Court Justice Richard H. Bernstein, whose passionate keynote address stirred the room. He spoke of his completing the IronMan triathlon and many marathons, and told the attendees to consider themselves akin to athletes.

Ven was proud to be among the many distinguished speakers. Read the entire article here.
