Ven Johnson Law Files Lawsuit Against Known Rapist and His Employer

DETROIT, MI – Ven Johnson Law has filed a lawsuit in the Macomb County Circuit Court against Turner Services Group, Inc., Turner Services Group, LLC (aka “Jimmy John’s”), and Jerry Jerome Brown-Pegues for the rape a 17-year-old, mentally-challenged Wayne County woman, who will be referred to as Jane Doe. Pegues and Doe were both Jimmy John’s employees, located at 36324 Van Dyke Ave., in Sterling Heights.

Doe was employed by the Jimmy John’s franchise on July 30, 2020. Pegues, age 36, was already employed. Doe quickly became uncomfortable in Pegues presence due to his inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace and reported it to her manager. The manager reported this misconduct to the Human Resources Department, but they took no action.

On Aug. 15, 2020, Pegues made sexual advances toward Doe, including asking her to have sexual relations with him, and she refused. He became insistent and forced Doe into a storage room in the restaurant and raped her, which has resulted in physical injuries and severe emotional distress.

Turner Inc. and/or Turner LLC are wholly responsible for negligently hiring Pegues despite the fact that they knew he was convicted of rape in the Oakland County Circuit Court in 2017 and placed on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry.

“Turner Inc. and Turner LLC hired Pegues, a convicted rapist, and permitted him to work in an environment where he would come in contact with young, vulnerable women. Pegues is a known predator and the defendants allowed him to attack again,” said Ven Johnson, president of Ven Johnson Law.
