Civil Rights

Civil rights are designed to protect the physical and mental integrity and safety of people in a multitude of situations. This includes discrimination based on race, gender, skin color, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity, religion, or disability. These rights are also the basis of international human rights. The purpose of civil rights are to make sure you can freely participate in every day life and political activities. Neither government nor a private organization is allowed to infringe upon your rights.

Civil rights include individual rights, privacy, and many freedoms: speech, expression, religion, the press, assembly and movement. Political rights encompass voting, assembly, self-defense, the right to petition, freedom of association, rights of someone accused of a crime, the right to a fair trial, due process and the right to seek redress.

For many, these violations cross over into police misconduct such as illegal search and seizure, police brutality, excessive force, and false arrest or imprisonment. They also include sexual harassment in the workplace. If your civil rights have been violated, you need an experienced attorney in Michigan with trial experience and proven results.

If your civil rights have been violated contact Johnson Law. We’re ready to fight for you.
