The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a trade association representing drug companies have urged a Michigan state appeals court to rule that Gilead Sciences is immune from a claim.

Arguments were heard Wednesday in the Michigan Court of Appeals as attorneys representing the families of the Oxford High School shooting victims look to have their civil case returned to Oakland County Circuit Court.

Some families also retained civil attorney Ven Johnson and had planned to sue the district and the principal.

“It is a ridiculous, frivolous motion. In any other type of a case would be sanctioned by the trial judge,” said attorney Ven Johnson.

Michigan is asking a judge to end pending litigation over the flooding that was caused by the Edenville Dam failure in 2020.
