Jimar Cunningham is an Associate Attorney at Ven Johnson Law, PLC. Originally from Rochester, New York, Jimar earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. While at Gannon, he played collegiate football and was recognized as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete as well as a Division II Scholar-Athlete.
Jimar went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During law school, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Gershwin A. Drain of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He was actively involved in the law school community, serving as Class President during his second and final year, and as Vice President of the Black Law Students Association. He was also a member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates, representing UDM Law at a national competition hosted by Howard University School of Law.
Jimar has been licensed to practice law since 2025. As an associate at Ven Johnson Law, he focuses his practice on automobile accidents, dog bites, and other general negligence claims. Jimar is committed to serving his clients with hard work, effective communication, and empathy.
Outside of his legal career, Jimar enjoys working out, watching football, and going to the movies.
