OXFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Over the weekend School Board President Tom Donnelly added fuel to the fire by criticizing parents of shooting victims saying they are trying to divide the community in his words, by taking events during the shooting out of context and going public.

A security guard assigned to the Michigan high school where a student fatally shot four kids and injured six others last year took no action to stop the carnage, according to a lawsuit filed by the victims’ families.

OXFORD, Mich. (AP) — An armed security officer told investigators she thought an active shooting at a Michigan high school was a drill and that one of the bleeding students simply was wearing “really good makeup,” an attorney suing the school district said Wednesday.

A security officer at Oxford High School allegedly thought the deadly November 2021 shooting was an active shooter drill, telling investigators that she assumed a bleeding victim she walked past had “really good makeup” on.

An attorney representing the parents of Oxford High School shooting victims alleged Wednesday an armed security guard at the Detroit-area school failed to stop last November’s shooting, partly because she initially believed it was a drill—as the parents seek to add the guard as a defendant in a lawsuit against the school.

A state Supreme Court decision in a case originated by an Eastpointe man injured on a Macomb County highway slightly bolsters plaintiffs’ legal efforts against governmental units, the man’s attorney said.
