Biography
Boyd White III is an attorney and counselor at Ven Johnson Law, known for taking on complex and high-stakes cases, representing individuals and families in matters where liability is contested, exposure is significant and outcomes depend on courtroom execution.
With nearly two decades of litigation experience, Boyd has served as first-chair trial counsel in both criminal and civil cases, leading strategy in matters involving significant financial and reputational risk. He built his reputation as the attorney clients turned to when cases became difficult, and the stakes were highest.
Prior to joining Ven Johnson Law, Boyd spent more than a decade at Dykema, where he rose to member and partner, handling complex litigation across product liability, insurance defense and commercial disputes for national clients.
Boyd began his career as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Oakland County, where he tried criminal cases and built the courtroom foundation that defines his practice today. That experience now drives his work on the plaintiff's side, where he fights for individuals and families and takes their cases to trial.
He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law and holds a bachelor's degree in theatre arts from the University of Michigan.
Outside of his legal practice, Boyd serves as the lead pastor of The Ark Detroit, where he focuses on leadership, mentorship and community engagement.
Boyd White III is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
He has been recognized as a Rising Star by Michigan Super Lawyers since 2014 and was named to the Best Lawyers "Ones to Watch" list in 2021.
Boyd is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Midwest Trial Training Program and has completed additional advanced trial training focused on courtroom advocacy and litigation strategy.
