
Genesee County, Mich. (WNEM) – Attorney Thom Waun is representing Tina Birnie in a civil lawsuit against the driver that killed her husband, Flint Police Captain Collin Birnie. The driver, who was 16 at the time of the incident, lost control of his vehicle on Elms Road and crossed the center line, crashing into Birnie’s vehicle in February.

ATLANTA — A federal jury in Atlanta has awarded $100 million to a panhandler who fell and broke his neck after a police officer shocked him with a stun gun during a foot chase, news agencies report.

A 65-year-old man was paralyzed from the neck down four years ago, after an encounter with an Atlanta police officer resulted in him being tased, falling and fracturing his neck. Now, a federal jury has awarded him $100 million, stating that the officer involved used an unreasonable amount of force.
